The Million Year Trip (Vol. 81): Rainbows and Waterfalls Run Through My Mind

Here’s the set list that I played on CHIRP Radio on Sunday, February 5th. You can listen to most of the songs on my Spotify playlist.
  • NFL Films - The Power and the Glory [In honor of the Super Bowl. This is a small sampling of the work of NFL Films and John Fcenda, one of the greatest voice-over artists ever. Their collection of documentaries went a long way in making the NFL seem a lot more epic and mythical than it actually was back in the '70s and '80s.]
  • Sleigh Bells - Bitter Rivals (Bitter Rivals) [A logical compliment to any pro football theme, IMO]
  • The Olympians - Sirens of Jupiter (The Olympians)
  • Ty Segall - Freedom (Ty Segall)
  • E - Silo (E)
  • SUPERMAGICAL - Crazy Girl (WHITEGOLD)
  • Cosmic Son - Keep it Casual [Alternate] (Live & Loose EP)
  • Xiu Xiu - Vulture Piano (The Air Force)
  • Forest Fire - Waiting in the Night (Screens)
  • Cloud Nothings - Internal World (Life Without Sound)
  • Imelda Marcos - Henna Pinwheel-Fashioner (Dalawa)
  • Motörhead - Emergency (Ace of Spades) [The real deal. RIP Lemmy.]
  • Mickey Woods - Poor Sam Jones
  • Chapelles - Me (Are You Ready for the Chapelles?)
  • The Brothers Johnson - Strawberry Letter 23 (Right on Time) [The ultimate in Psychedelic-Funk-Pop. I've been listening to this song for decades and it never gets old.]
  • Jamie xx - Gosh (In Colour)
  • R.A. The Rugged Man - The People's Champ (Legends Never Die) [Very well-done old school Rap. It's got machismo for days.]
  • Zombi - Mission Creep (Shape Shift)
  • Bash & Pop - Anything Could Happen (Anything Could Happen)
  • Japandroids - No Known Drink or Drug (Near to the Wild Heart of Life) [One of the most joyous bands around. I've seen them live a couple of times, and they never disappoint with their energy and optimism.]
  • Stef Chura - Slow Motion (Messes)
  • Santah - Sunkeeper (Chico)
  • A Projection - Dark City (Framework)
  • King - Won't You Hold My Hand Now (Steps in Time) [This '80s band had only one minor hit in the US ("Love & Pride") but the whole album is solid.]
  • Lionel Moist Sextet - Chillin' (Essential Acid Jazz)
  • Ratatat - Wildcat (Classics)
  • Ella Jenkins - Came Out the Wilderness [1982] (Live from the Old Town School) [A fantastic live performance from the Old Town stage. The sound on this is fantastic.]
  • Trevor de Brauw - Turn Up for What (Uptown)

I’ll be back on the air with more music on Sunday, February 12th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm Central Time on CHIRP Radio!
