"Winter Saltings" by Laura Cannell

Laura Cannell recorded this track (from her new EP Simultaneous Flight Movement) inside a lighthouse in Suffolk. Her sound is perfect for early Fall. It’s a haunted, intense sound that suggests a mysterious mansion that may or may not be trouble.

I don’t know much about modern Classical music, but one complaint I have about what little I’ve heard of it is the forced dissonance, as if the composer was told if the music wasn’t harsh and “weird” it’s not worth doing. Cannell’s music doesn’t go down that road. It has bite and tension, but also melodic beauty. It’s like the best kinds of Ambient in how it envelops the listener.
