"Lift" by Katie Gately

GLI Press roams the internet looking for the best in shared new music...

So much music being made today is some variation of slow, plodding, droning, precious and depressing. It’s always great to hear something unusual, something not just with a beat but its own internal clock. Something with some life in it. Something like Katie Gatley’s track “Lift” from her new album Color (TriAngle Records).

When I hear this record I hear shades of tUnE-yArDs and The Art of Noise, other artists who know how to twist up rhythms and melodies to suit their own ends. The deep bass and thumping drums make it even better. I can stand more of this.
