A Song For the 19th of the Month: "19” by Paul Hardcastle

Here's my salute to songs with numbers in them. Every day this month, I'll select a song with the number of the month in the title.

To celebrate the 19th day of the month, a fine choice would have been “Hey Nineteen” by Steely Dan or even “19th Nervous Breakdown” by The Rolling Stones. But I’m going to go with a semi-obscure techno track produced in 1985, “19” by Paul Hardcastle. Using video and audio samples of Vietnam war footage, the song makes a strong anti-war statement, the kind that’s not really seen or heard anymore, at least not in the mainstream where US “defense” and media industries work hand in hand to keep public sentiment from getting too riled up about military actions.

What songs do you like with "Nineteen" in the title? Leave ideas in the comments!
