Movie Review: OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies

If you're looking for a fun action/comedy with international flavor, put OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies on your list. This is a very, very funny French spoof of an old TV spy thriller series of the same name, but also of all kinds of spy movies.

Everyone in the talented cast is in on the joke, and are clearly having a good time chewing scenery when appropriate. There's a lot of situational, visual, and allusional humor here. It gets absurd, but never goes off into an Austin Powers level of parody. The sets are meticulously re-created and the female leads are hot. Most of the time American audiences are exposed to a certain type of female protagonist in action films - it's a noticeable change of pace to see non-white actresses given this kind of screen time in these kinds of roles.

Check this one out!
