"Leader of the Pack" by Sleigh Bells

(Originally published in August, 2012)

Sleigh Bells works with the same musical palette as pop bands that currently occupy the top 40, using lots of hooks and noise. The big differences are 1. Sleigh Bells' hooks are good 2. guitarist and songwriter Edward Miller knows how to use noise to create great songs, and 3. Alexis Krauss, who I'm prepared to declare is the current queen of indie pop. Spend five minutes watching her perform, and you'll see why.

The big question for this band was if they could follow up 2010's Treats with something as and fresh and lively. Answer received: Hell, yeah. If you ever get a chance to see them live, take it.
